02 / What we do & believe

Rooted in tradition.
Practiced together.

Sometimes we need somewhere to put down what we’re carrying. A warm cup, a little room to breathe, a conversation where we don’t have to pretend. At LURUH, we make time for that kind of care.

Rooted in Indonesian traditions, LURUH brings women together through ritual, nourishment, movement, and reflection. Four pillars guide how we gather and care for one another.

Pause & Listen

Gentle breathwork, meditation, sound healing, and body awareness. Space to listen, rest, and notice what you’re feeling, without needing to fix it or find the right words.

Breathe. Listen. Take your time.

Reflect & Express

Journaling, gratitude, drawing, and honest conversation. Different ways to unpack a little of what you carry—and perhaps see yourself with more kindness.

Write. Create. Share, if you wish.

Move & Nourish

Mindful movement, making jamu with our hands, and the warm broth we prepare and serve to our Boston community. Care through movement, ingredients, and a shared table.

Move. Make. Nourish.

Ritual & Connection

Flower-water welcomes, shared intentions, and ceremonies inspired by Javanese and Balinese traditions. Ritual gives us a moment to recognize: something is beginning, something is ending. We pause to acknowledge the change, with the intention of helping each woman feel grounded, supported, and less alone in what comes next.

Honor a beginning. Mark an ending. Be together.

Each gathering brings together a different selection of practices. The event description will tell you what’s included and who will guide you.

What we believe

You don’t have to perform
being well.

We believe wellness needs room to be practiced, not just consumed. That might mean learning to make something with your hands, noticing your breath, or sitting with someone who really listens.

Vulnerability is not being “too much.” You’re welcome to speak, to listen, or to keep something for yourself. We aim to create a space where you feel met with care—not pressure to share or leave transformed.

We pay attention to the nervous system by making room for a gentle pace, choice, and rest. These are spaces for community and self-care, not a replacement for therapy or medical care.

Tradition deserves care, too. We name the Indonesian roots of our rituals and respect the distinct origins of the other practices we explore together.

When it’s 11 p.m. and everything feels like too much, we hope you have something to reach for—a practice you’ve tried, a moment of connection you remember, a way to come back to yourself.
Care that continues beyond the gathering

Growing with intention

A community we’re
building together.

LURUH is still unfolding. We hope to welcome more practitioners and explore new ways of gathering, while staying close to the care that brought us here. Future offerings will be introduced when they’re ready, with clear details about the practice and the person guiding it.
